The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 6: The Battle for Your Mind

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (of the flesh) but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. -2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Make no mistake we are at WAR!

By now you should be clear of that truth. The second truth that you should be sure about is that we are in a spiritual war. In other words the people and the events that we involve ourselves in on a daily basis are in the natural (i.e. experience and see with our physical eyes) is only part of a bigger picture going on "behind the scenes" in the spiritual world.

(1st) God is Spirit. You and I are spirit too. Did you know that? Knowing this to be true, than there has to be an existence of activity in the spirit world. (or the unseen, invisible, hidden)

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Jesus had made this comment to a Samaritan woman who thought that a persons physical location was what was needed to worship God. Since God is a spirit then we must worship Him accurately (i.e. in truth) and in spirit. Remember God is Spirit (John 4:24).

(2nd) God is invisible.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation (Colossians 1:15).

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen (1st Timothy 1:17).

Knowing the nature of God is very important to understanding our own nature. We are spirits too.

Then God (who is Spirit)- emphasis added said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; ..." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them (Genesis 1:26, 27).

Remember God is a Spirit, and He made us in His image and likeness. That would mean that we are also spirits.

Not convinced yet? Listen to what the Apostle Paul said about our makeup in 1st Thessalonians 5:23
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What was Paul saying here regarding man? He said that a complete man is made up of three parts. We discussed this previously. I keep bringing it up because I want you to get comfortable with this truth. The Apostle Paul prayed that sanctification would take place not halfway but all the way. In other words he prayed that his converts might be wholly sanctified; meaning their whole being...

                                                                                   1. spirit (intangible)
2. soul  (intangible)
3. body (physical)

Lets look at another scripture that qualifies the true make up of a man (i.e. male/female).

Genesis 2:7  Amplified Bible says
then the Lord God formed [that is, created the body of] man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit].

One translation says a living soul. As a result of God, man became a living soul.

All of this is crucial to know because when we start looking at the mind and Satan's strategy to influence our thoughts, you will see why he attacks there and why he wants to control our minds. Hes after the soul.

Dictionary definition of the word soul.
soul - a person's moral or emotional nature or sense of identity. spirit, psyche (inner being) subconscious; pneuma, energy, emotional or intellectual energy

First we start with the Spirit.

The Spirit- Greek word "pneuma"

Then they fell on their faces, and said, "O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and You be angry with all the congregation?" (Numbers 16:22)

This scripture says that God is a Spirit and the God of the spirits of all flesh of all of humanity. The flesh (i.e. physical body) of all mankind.

The bible speaks of the separation that takes place between the spirit and the soul.

For the word is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12 AMP).

Each husband and wife are made up of (1) spirit (2) soul. They are also two spirits which makes up the whole person inside of a body; or two different bodies. That means that a husband and a wife each have a soul, and together they represent (two minds, two wills, and two emotions).

then the LORD God formed [that is, created the body of] man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit] (Genesis 2:7 AMP).

God who is Spirit, breathed life into man. He created all of mankind, forming, shaping, sculpting, molded the physical bodies of men from the dust of the ground, exhaling Himself which is Spirit into the body which made man alive.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life (Job 33:4).

But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding (Job 32:8).

God has made mankind by His Spirit and through Him breathing His life giving Spirit into man we have been given (1) life and (2) understanding.

The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly (Proverbs 20:27).

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (Romans 8:16).

For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of the of God except the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:11).

And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness (Romans 8:10).

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own (1st Corinthians 6:19).

The Spirit of man comes from God and is a very attribute that originally gave man life. The spirit inside of man is not the same as  God's Holy Spirit. This is mans human spirit (or inner most being).

In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], the life was the Light of men (John 1:4 AMP).

Next...

The Soul -Greek word "psyche"

Genesis 2:7 states man was created as a "living soul." The soul consist of the mind (which includes the conscience) the will, and emotions. The soul and the spirit make up the heart.

Keep your heart with all diligence, for from it springs (or flows) the issues of life. The heart which is the "command center" of a persons life where it is central to our emotions and will (Proverbs 4:23).

When we look at the "psyche" (i.e. soul) which is made up of the (1) mind (2) will (3) emotions you may wonder how that really looks in an individuals life; even your own. Lets look at the mind first

The mind is made up of your thought life. It is where the conscience is. The mind is a very powerful "asset" for good or evil.  Why?  I'm sure you have heard this quote before that gives a really clear understanding of  why it's so powerful and why it's vitally important to guard our minds from letting in the wrong stuff.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become your character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

It's that simple.

Let's apply this quote to a well known verse of scripture in the bible associating it with what its saying. First we'll look at the way its written out in the bible, then we'll connect it with the quote.

For the plans and thoughts that I have for you', says the LORD, 'plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 AMP).

Jeremiah 29:11 in connection with the previous quote above...
For the plans and (thoughts that become words that become habits that become character that become destiny) that I have for you', says the LORD, 'plans (thoughts that become words that become habits that become character that become destiny) for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.

You see why its so important to renew your mind. Because your mind is a part of  your soul. The other two parts being your (1) will (2) emotions. So if you your thoughts which come from your mind are a major key to your destiny, then it makes perfect sense why the devil when he attacks us, he comes to attack us in our minds. This is crucial to know regarding the power and use of our words.

The Bible has some specific scriptures that warn us about our words and the good or bad that they can cause...

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, (i.e. building up) that it may impart grace to the hearers. -Ephesians 4:29

Listen to the way its written in the Amplified Bible

Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak] (Ephesians 4:29 AMP).

The mind is the seed bed for God's word or the devil. What you sow you reap (See Galatians 6:7).

Apostle Paul spoke about himself in regard the responsibility of man when it comes to the mind. Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day (Acts 23:1).

Paul understood the importance of his individual responsibility to keeping good maintenance over his own thinking, before God and man. He doesn't leave his thought life up to God. The words that he speaks are as a result of what he has taken the time to invest in and have deposited. This is why he said in Romans that we must renew our minds (i.e. psyche, thoughts, conscience, intellect, reasoning)

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).

Once again, let's look at the Amplified version.

And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on Godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].

You need to understand, that there are two opposing viewpoints that are always in existence; good and evil. Neither is not always clearly identifiable. How will you be able to know the difference? Are you able to recognize the good in people around you each day? What about the evil? Can you see the difference when each is being demonstrated in your marriage, children, family, and friends etc. If you don't renew your mind to God's word, I repeat...then how will you know? You won't.

Next...

The Body -Greek word soma

Therefore I urge you brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on Godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you] (Romans 12:1-2 AMP).

For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body (1st Corinthians 6:20).

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own (1st Corinthians 6:19).

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1).

Our bodies are important to God. Our mind is important to God. Our spirit is important to God. He wants all of us. The devil wants the same. This is why your relationship with others is an important part of your success or failure in God. Listen to a more specific example of this truth.

So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him (Genesis 2:20).

Did you hear that? Adam didn't need just any ole woman. He needed someone that was "comparable" to him. In other words Adam needed help, or a helper. This is why I said having the right person(s) in your life, or your connected to in this case in covenant with is a major part of you living a victorious marriage life. So being in your right mind is key in everything you do. In relation to all that's been said, lets now address how all of this ties into the battle for your mind.

I remind you how you think determines everything. You have to know that you and your spouse are natural physical being as well as spiritual beings. The devil also is a spirit so being aware of your make up (spiritually, mentally, and physically) is vital because the enemy loves to infiltrate our minds especially those of us who are ignorant of his existence, his tactics, his purpose.

"...lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices (2 Corinthians 2:11).

another translation.

"...to keep Satan from taking advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11).

The meaning for the word "device" in this scripture is originally in Greek. It means thought, mind; scheme, design, and plot. Therefore we are not to be ignorant (without knowledge, unaware) of Satan's mind or his thoughts or what he's plotting against us.

The battle for your marriage starts in your mind. The devil is a great strategist and he plans long and strong for his attack on us. We have to stay on the offensive when it comes to him. We have to learn how our enemy thinks and operates. Having the knowledge of your makeup is major when it comes to the schemes of the devil. Because now you realize that

(1) The weapons that we are fighting with are not of the flesh
(2) The weapons are mighty in God (meaning of the Spirit)
(3) The weapons that we use have the ability to pull down strongholds

Greek words meaning for stronghold: (fortress, prison, strong defense, a strong-walled fortress). It also is used figuratively of a false argument in which a person seeks "shelter" (a safe place) to escape reality.
The devil (who is a spirit) comes along as a spiritual attack in the mind which is the part of your soul that affects your will and your emotions to bring a false idea, thought, accusation, or argument into your mind and the more you entertain the information that he sends and continue too then it starts to form itself into a stronghold.
Remember the stronghold started as an false idea, thought, suggestion, accusation, imaginations, etc. Listen to what this scripture says that Jesus said about the Pharisees when they claim to be of Abraham's seed or offspring and Jesus tells them they are of the devil.

You are of  your father the devil, and it is your will to practice the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths (John 8:44 AMP).

another translation

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is not truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44 NKJV).

Just a side note: I want to give you some substance to Jesus statement about these people in regards to the evil spirit that they were carriers of which prove that they were of the devil. In John 8: 31-59 they claim to be a people that were of the descendants of Abraham. But this claim was futile because their deeds evidenced a lack of any moral relationship to him. If they were truly children of God, they would reverence the Son of God. Instead their reaction against Jesus only revealed the sobering fact that the Devil was their father. It is not ethnic or family pedigree that makes one acceptable to God but honoring God by believing in and loving Jesus Christ.

This is why you must know the nature and characteristics of the devil so you will recognize when he's in operation in your marriage, family, children, or any other relationships close or otherwise. Even when it looks like the lie that's been exposed look so much like the truth. The only way you will know is when you know what the enemy looks like and how he operates. Next time we will look at more of the difference between knowing when the nature and character that is being expressed verbally or demonstrated physically is of God or of the Devil. This is WAR! God doesn't want you to be misled. I repeat...Their is a real thief out there looking to destroy your marriage...and it's not your spouse.

The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 5: Knowing The Truth Is Half The Battle

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace, above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints- Ephesians 6:13-18

You are in a WAR!

From the time that Adam and Eve sinned leading to the fall of mankind up until the time that Jesus was born, lived died on the cross and rose again you and I have been at war. For many of the inhabitants of the earth this war is not something that they are aware exist. For those of us that have been born again (i.e from above-See John 3:3) our eyes are open and we can see and sometimes even feel or sense clearly the spiritual climate around us. It's a WAR! The enemy is taking no prisoners.

This is why the bible and its truth is a book that is scrutinized by many of earths scholars, and religious deity, kings, leaders, and philosophers of the world. This is why the content in its pages and the believers of it's words are constantly under attack; whether visible by men or spiritually by evil spirits.

This is no laughing matter or to be played with; your salvation. The bible is very clear about the differences of nature, personality, character, and ways of the culture that we live in and how believers are to respond. Yet there are many that still are "conformed" or conforming to this world and its ways, and system instead of transforming or being transformed by the renewing of the mind. (See Romans 12:1, 2)

Before we continue looking at the rest of God's armor, I want to share a scripture that the Lord spoke to and through the prophet Isaiah regarding the people in his day that is also relative to the day we're living in now.

Isaiah 6:9 says, And He (i.e the LORD) said, "Go and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.'  "Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed."

You see...there's a simple truth here that the LORD is revealing clearly to Isaiah the prophet and that is...the same message that softens a receptive heart also hardens an unreceptive heart. So in sending forth the message to a people known to be unreceptive, their condition is worsened. However, their end is caused by their own rejection of God, not by God's predetermination.

Think about what was just said. Yours, my heart, and anyone else is where the real truth is. Every word we hear; whether it be one someone spoke, we listen too, read, heard within ourselves, etc... the action(s) that we take afterwards shows if we really received what we heard.

The more I read Gods word, sit under the teachings of His word, read articles or books about His word, learn about His ways through His word, and meditate and practice doing what His word says the more it proves the receptiveness of my heart towards God and His word (truth).  So it is with you. We must do what the LORD is telling us to do.

Everything about God...everything about Jesus...everything about the Holy Spirit... spells CHANGE!

The more of God the more we change. The less of God, the less we change. Here's the thing; we need God for the change. Because the God kind of change is no ordinary change. It's TRANSFORMATION!!!

That brings me to today's continuation of the armor of God. Before we look specifically at the armor in Ephesians 6:10-18, and the rest of the pieces of spiritual weaponry, I want to share a brief little history of how we arrive at the knowledge that has been made available to us in this modern day and age and it's significance to the times we live in. As I have shared in previous post that the LORD said the reason why His people perish is because of lack of knowledge (See Hosea 4:6).

I'm saying also the reason why people perish (i.e die spiritually, remain ignorant, stay in bondage, confused, in lack, stay a victim, oppressed, depressed, always defeated, don't breakthrough, etc..

is because of...LACK OF KNOWLEDGE!

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. - Proverbs 1:7

In the book of Ephesians the Apostle Paul is speaking to the church of Ephesus. His desire as all men and women of the faith in God should want, is that believers of Christ be strong victorious Christians. So Paul writes to one of the churches that he had been given some apostolic oversight over.  This is a church that he personally had ministered in for over two full years. During this time he developed a very deep relationship with the Ephesians.  The more that the Apostle Paul grew in his personal relationship with God, he grew in his knowledge and understanding of the things of God. In other words Paul grew deeply and was stirred by an expanding revelation about the church at large.

So Paul let the church know in Ephesians that before the church is called to war, she is taught to walk; and before the church is called to walk, the church is taught where she stands. This is not only important for the church of Ephesus, even our churches and the body of Christ today. This is also very important and relative to each of us as individual believers of Christ.

There are 4 "calls'' that Paul speaks about in Ephesians that apply to us today as believers of Christ. (*note I may write a post series on the 4 "Believer's Call" in the future)

#1 The believer's call to responsibility
#2 The believer's call to purity
#3 The believer's call to Spirit-filled living
#4 The believer's call to spiritual warfare.

For our present reading I want to discuss more with you about Apostle Paul's words to us about the call to spiritual warfare.

Before I do that I want to share an important side note about your ability and willingness to hear TRUTH. This is based solely on scripture and it's from the Master Jesus Christ Himself. The scripture actually shows each of us the kind of believer that we are currently, and or what we can become as we continue to grow in Him.

Jesus spoke about the "Parable of the Sower" in the four gospels. (See Matthew 13:22; Mark 4:19; Luke 8:14). In it He describe four kinds of people who hear the WORD.

#1 The seed by the wayside -persons who hear the word of the kingdom and do not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.

#2 The seed on stony places -persons who hear the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, endures for a little while. When tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately stumbles (i.e falls away).

#3 The seed among the thorns -persons who hear the word, and the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

#4 The seed received on good ground -persons  who hear the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

As I said earlier, make no mistake we are in a WAR. I don't know where you are right now when it comes to your relationship with God. You that are reading this right now could be someone who's just gotten saved, what the bible calls a new babe in Christ. Think of a baby who was just born; in your case "born-again." If you are... this level of truth might be too much for you...at the moment. That's OK. I wasn't always where I am in the Lord. However you can get there.

The next kind of person that might be reading this you could be one who has been walking with the  LORD for sometime but have in recent years have started to grow weary in your faith. I understand. Let this word refresh your spirit today. And going forward you gotta dig a well! And keep on digging!!!

The third kind of person reading might not even be saved but this written message has ministered to you. The bible says that Jesus stands at the door and knocks and He invites you in today into salvation, being born again through the confession of your sins and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

The fourth and final kind of person reading this might not be a believer of Jesus Christ at all. In fact you might be an unbeliever. Well I gotta tell you that the bible says the LORD wish that none would die and what He meant was eternal death. Hell is a real place. Separation from the one who made you is the worse place for any of us to be or have to experience. So if your not saved or never believed before, you are not reading this by accident. You have been divinely brought here to read this by God Himself, because He loves you so much He doesn't want you to live your life without Him or leave this earth without salvation.

Now I know I wrote a lot and I haven't gotten to the last pieces of God's armor yet. You also might be saying to yourself, I thought this was a blog about marriage. I want you to know that it is a blog about marriage. But whether your married, single, divorced, old or young we all need to hear and be reminded of the ultimate purpose for the bible, message and the messenger Jesus Christ Himself.

Every couple, family, person, child, home, school, neighborhood, community, city, even church, etc... This WAR is real, and it affects us all; especially those who don't even know their in a WAR.

So finally...what you been waiting for...

The last pieces of the armor of GOD.

The breastplate:
"...having put on the breastplate of righteousness

The gospel of peace:
"...having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace

The shield of faith:
"...above all taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

The helmet of salvation:
And take the helmet of salvation..."

The sword of the Spirit:
"...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Each piece of Gods armor is important to the protection of your whole self; mind, body and spirit. Everyday you must decide to put on the armor of God. The bible says that devil goes around seeking whom he may devour. So if you don't equip yourself each day properly than the enemy of your soul will get the upper hand.

Every married couple must be dressed for the battle that comes against the marriage. I'm not just talking about the wars of the flesh, such as arguments, disagreements, strife, discord. There are greater demons in the earth today that have been given free access by the those who care nothing about the sanctity of God's holy union: marriage.

There's same sex marriages that have become the "new norm" in the earth. It's to the point that its become an accepted practice and religious acknowledgement among many who claim to name the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Let me be clear about this; God does not change His mind because the people decide too. Whether saved or unsaved sin is still sin.  Marriage is between one man and one women in the sight of God. It is holy matrimony, set apart as Gods instrument and example in the earth of Christ and the church.

Romans 1:18 is very clear when it says "For the wrath of God is revealed (i.e. clearly seen, made evident) from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress ( i.e. deny, hold down) the truth in righteousness

That's why we put on the breastplate of righteousness. You don't need to just hear about the truth but you must take the truth you know and hear and hide it in your heart and let that truth be cover by the righteousness of God.

Your lives and the people in your life need to be looked at with different eyes. All around us on a daily basis there are people that are going through tough times. In fact our very nation is experiencing some very unsettling events. This is why Jesus came to help you and I and all of those who call on His name to experience and walk in higher degree of peace in the midst of no peace.

John 14:27 says
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let your heart not be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I want you to know that there are two kinds of peace. (1) the worlds peace (2) peace of Jesus. Everyday you and I get to decide which peace we want to have in our lives. Based upon the peace that you decide will determine how you walk.

Knowing the gospel which is the good news of Jesus Christ accepted it and living our your life daily by letting it direct your life will cause you to be ready to walk out your faith in Christ Jesus in area of your life.

The next piece of the armor is not optional. Now that doesn't mean that the rest are. But I will say this if you leave one or all of the other pieces "home" one day, or maybe forget to put it on that morning, I want to encourage your heart and tell you all is not lost. However, you cannot afford under any circumstances to walk "out the door" into the world without the shield of faith.

Hebrew 11:1 says
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6 says
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Did you hear that? Faith is like oxygen is not optional to the air we breathe. Faith in God is the same. That means if you lose everything else but your faith is still intact then you are OK. Faith in God. The devil sends doubt, unbelief, worry, anxiety, fear, etc. into the minds of people, including Christians like "fiery darts." Only the shield of faith can protect you from succumbing to the onslaught of the enemy.

Each and every day you must decide that no matter what you will live by faith and not by sight.

Hebrews 10:38 says
Now the just shall live by faith..." (See also Rom. 1:17)

The next piece of armor that is needed for this spiritual warfare is the helmet of salvation. When in a fight with the devil; whether concerning your marriage, children, family, friends, etc. there will be times that you might find yourself questioning your salvation. Problems can sometimes be that intense. However you must remember that you have been saved.

Placing the salvation upon your head is for the purpose of protection and reminder of your new position in Jesus Christ. A helmet is for covering the head which is vital to guarding your mind.

Romans 12:2 says
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The word of God is the new language of the born again believer. You must have a daily diet of spiritual food from above. Gods word is a weapon. When you are filled with the truth of Gods word you are able to respond to whatever the enemy tries to throw at you through his attacks on your mind or influence on other people; whether the other person is your spouse, child, sibling, boss, coworker, neighbor, friend, etc.

Hebrews 4:12 says
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart.

I wish people took Gods word more serious. I hope you that are reading this do. If Jesus Himself had to use the word against the devil than how much more you and I? Here's one of those examples.

And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." But Jesus answered him saying, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.' " -Luke 4:3, 4

I hope this has help make clear to you that our warfare is not against physical forces, but against invisible powers who have clearly defined levels of authority in a real, though invisible, sphere of activity.

Next we are going to look at the importance of having strong mind during Spiritual Warfare. I always say if the enemy can...he will. You must know and be aware of the enemies tactics where he makes his greatest attack in our lives and how to defend yourself. No matter if your married, single, or divorced. Hes after your mind.

The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 4: Dressed and Ready for Battle

By now if you have been following the Invisible War In Marriage Parts 1-3 then I'm sure that you would agree when I make the statement: "We Are At War!"

I really want you to let those words sink in. If your reading this post, "The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 4: Dressed and Ready for Battle" and you have not first read The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 1: Knowing Your Enemy then you should.

Hosea 4: 6 says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

2 Corinthians 2:11 says, "...lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

other translations for the word devices (schemes, wiles, intentions, thoughts, plans, and strategies)

Each of these words are important to look because they give us more understanding about the devils ways

Let's look at each of them...

1. devices- a plan, scheme, or trick with a particular aim.
2. schemes- make plans, especially in a devious way or with intent to do something illegal or wrong.
3. wiles- devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants.
4. intentions- a thing intended; an aim or plan.
5. thoughts- an idea or opinion by thinking or occurring suddenly in the mind.
6. plans- a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something. an intention or decision about what one is going to do.
7. strategies- a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim. a plan for military operations and movements during a war or battle.

The main word that each of these words have in common is the word "plan"

Satan is a planner. In a very good one  at that. (if I can say that- because there's no good in him). So keep this in mind. We have a real enemy, and it's not the people in your life. It's the devil.

I'm sure you heard the saying "knowledge is power!" But that's really not true. Knowledge in of itself is just that...knowledge. Meaning you and I can read stuff all day long and what we read never make a difference in our lives. It's only when we read with the intentions of applying it to our life that the knowledge that we put into practice becomes power to and for us.

Lets review Hosea 4:6  again...but this time looking at the rest of the verse.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Did you hear that?

#1 Ignorance (not knowing) destroys people. I might add not knowing the right information.
#2 Rejecting (knowing) or knowledge brings about destruction and rejection from God Himself.
#3 Forgetting (knowledge) the type of knowledge as in the case of this verse is (Gods law) or His word, the Bible, causing God Himself to forget not only people but their children.

Now I know this was specifically speaking to the people in Hosea's day. However the same truth and consequences apply to us in our day and time.

Remember this...

The enemy will destroy you in any area where you lack knowledge. - Guillermo Maldonado

So we can't afford to be ignorant!

Habakkuk 2:14 says, For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

God doesn't want His people to be ignorant. He wants to reveal Himself to us in all areas of our lives. Not one place in life is to be void of the knowledge of His glory. Amen

Remember knowledge becomes power only when it is put into practice.

In other words...

If your reading this it's because you need to and God wanted you to know it. So take serious all that your reading and put it into practice. That's the key to being an overcomer in life!

"Study to show yourself approved...- 2 Timothy 2:15

Back to the War!

The above scripture Ephesians 6: 13-18 gives some very clear instructions that we are to put into practice on a daily basis. It's addressing the armor of God. This is the "equipment" that are you are to put on each day when you arise. In fact...you should never take it off!

How so?

Because it's your spiritual clothing.

Let's review...

The first thing the verse of scripture says is to  take up the whole armor of God. In other words you can't expect someone else to do it for you. Not even God Himself can help you. He commands us to do it.

The second thing is it tells you why you are to do this so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. In other words, I repeat you have a real enemy (not your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, family  member, co-worker, or boss, etc) - its the devil. Also you must be aware and prepared in the "evil day"- meaning the days, the culture, world we live in is full of evil and darkness believe it or not so you need to be always ready with that understanding in your mind.

Scripture meditation and prayer:

Ephesians 5: 15-16 says, See then that you walk circumspectly- (cautiously, sensitively, carefully) not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Also speaks of taking up the armor to have the ability to withstand.

withstand - remain undamaged or unaffected by; resist. offer strong resistance or opposition to (someone or something). stand, tolerate, survive, endure, bear, defy, brave

The Bible says in Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Each and every day you must stand firm fully clothed in your armor being ready for the expected as well as the unexpected.

The third thing is how you should stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth. In other words, your spiritual posture is of the greatest importance when in the battle. Remember you are fighting a spiritual war, not one of flesh and blood.

Scripture meditation and prayer:

2nd Corinthians 10:3,4 says "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (or of the flesh) but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

In order to address the spiritual warfare around us everyday, you must be well equipped with the truth of God's word. God's voice must become a familiar one to you. Just like your spouse' voice or your children. The more quality time that you spend each day in God's presence reading, and meditating on the word of God you will be more prepared and ready for whatever comes your way.

The armor of God is whats needed to fight successfully in this invisible battle that surrounds us on a daily basis. The next time we will look at the final four pieces of armor that you must wear everyday to be victorious.

The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 3: Spiritual Warfare

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints- Ephesians 6: 14-18

Every family...every race...every language...every culture...every married couple is at WAR!

Unfortunately for most, this war is not one that a lot of couples are winning. Why?! Because the majority of married couples are not aware of the war that's going on behind the scenes of their marriage. Although Biblical Christian marriages are under attack just as much as non Christian marriages, being a married Christian couple - (one man and one woman)/ husband and wife tend to fare a whole lot better than those who choose not to have God at the center of their marriage.

People who keep God at the center of their home and family stay married at far greater rates, and even thrive within those marriages. When Jesus is the cornerstone of our homes and marriages, we can weather the storms. (See Matthew 7:24)

Amen.

We must not mistake the good times, blessings (material, physical, etc.) in our marriages as a time to lay back and relax. No matter the season we find ourselves in as believers, we are still at War! So we must stay in "ready mode" even when we're not... for the battle that's against us.

How does a person prepare to win this kind of battle?

There are 7 keys to victory in this war

1. Knowing that you have an enemy. (Not your spouse)

2. Knowing who the enemy is. (The Devil)

3. Knowing how the enemy operates. (The Devils strategies)

4. Knowing the weapons of  your ware fare. (Your spiritual tools)

5. Knowing where the enemy attacks you. (Your mind)

6. Knowing what to use to defend yourself against the Devil. (The Word of God)

7. Knowing how to win every battle. (Doing what the Word says)

God has given us the blueprint to our victory against the enemy through Jesus Christ. But we have to follow it. I repeat this battle that we are in is not of the flesh.

Let's look at what the Word says...

2 Corinthians 10: 3 Apostle Paul says,

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

The Bible is very clear. We are people who obviously have physical (flesh) bodies. But the battle that we're fighting is not of a physical (flesh) body nature. According to the Bible this is true. If  this is true then how?

Let's look at the what the Word of God says to find out...

Genesis 1: 26-27 says,

(26) Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." (27) So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

So God who is Spirit created all of mankind (male and female) in His own image and likeness. This is important because God is Spirit. (See John 4:24)

1st Thessalonians 5:23 says,

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible says three things about all of mankind. (male and female)

(1.) We are a spirit.
(2.) We possess a soul.
(3.) We live in a body.

For more on this please check out Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 1: Knowing Your Enemy
http://www.marriagevowels4life.com/2016/05/the-invisible-war-how-to-overcome.html

Knowing this truth about our lives is key to everything we deal with inside and outside of our homes, marriages and life on a daily basis. There is an unseen battle that exist beyond the "naked eye." Many in the body of Christ- (the Church at large) are still not aware or accepting of its existence.

God warned the children of Israel about the consequences for not knowing the truth. Listen to what the Bible says in Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Wow!

Think about what this verse in Hosea is saying. I know its initially directed to the children of Israel who were in rebellion and turned their backs on God, but as the saying goes... "the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree." In other words, we are witnessing and many are experiencing the consequences of a people, marriage, home, family, relationship, etc... living in rebellion towards God and or living a life without God in it.

What does this look like in someones life?

(1.) Abuse
(2.) Infidelity
(3.) Disorder
(4.) Separation
(5.) Divorce
(6.) Brokenness
(7.) Oppression
(8.) Violence

and on and on.....

A generational curse!

When there is no desire for the Creator of all of mankind to be at the center of a man or woman's life, and he or she decide by their actions "I'm my own god!" I"ll find my own way!"

Listen to what Proverbs 21:2 says,

Every way of a man (male or female) is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the heart.

You see when man lives outside of the presence and purpose of God -( meaning God's Word, God's Will, and God's Way) he or she is subject to be, do, and become anything he or she desires for good and/or for evil. If you look back at Hosea 4: 6 you will see that the children of Israels lack of knowledge passed down to their children. So the list above are some of the consequences of not having a personal relationship with the LORD. But not just for the adults but also the children.

So if you find yourself in a battle that it seems that you can't get yourself out of, I want you to know this is the reason Jesus came. Whether your single, in a relationship, engaged, married, separated, or divorced. I want you to know Jesus saves!

John 3:16-17 AMP

(16) "For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. (17) For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.

Amen.

Now back to the battle...

You are in a War! I hope you accept this as truth. You might not understand it all yet, but know that it's real. We have a real thief!

John 10:10 says,

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

Did you hear that?

The thief (the Devil) comes to do three things

(1.) Steal
(2.) Kill
(3.) Destroy

In other words  he comes to Steal your ...soul, your...mind, your...children, your...marriage...etc

and Kill your...hopes...your....dreams...your... family...your...life

Destroy everything in your life!

Remember that the next time you find yourself going through something. Pay close attention to the personality, nature, character, and behavior of people that you are around, involved with, or associate with.

Why? Because we do not wrestle against flesh (physical people or bodies) and blood. (See Ephesians 12) This is not a physical war we're fighting!

Here's the Amplified version

(12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.

Contend means to struggle to surmount (a difficulty or danger). In others you need to picture yourself in really bad troublesome, tormenting, evil, vicious, never ending FIGHT!!!!

And it's SPIRITUAL!

So in order to handle this battle you need to be equipped with the right stuff!! Let's look again at the above scripture that I started with

Ephesians 6: 14-18 Amplified Bible

(14) So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of TRUTH (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the BREASTPLATE OF  RIGHTEOUSNESS (an upright heart), (15) and having strapped on your feet the THE GOSPEL OF PEACE in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. (16) Above all, lift up the [protective] SHIELD OF FAITH with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the Word of God.

(18) With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God's people.

So we are to put on the full armor of God to prepare to do battle each day against things we see...and more importantly against the things we can't see

Let's review:

Each day before you begin your day you are to...

(1) Gird your waist with truth
(2) Put on the breastplate of righteousness
(3) Shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace
(4) Take up the shield of faith with which will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one
(5) Take the helmet of salvation and...
(6) Take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God

So God commands us to put on the full armor of God!

The next time we will look at each piece of the armor of God in detail.

The Invisible War In Marriage Pt. 2: Preparing For Battle

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. -Ephesians 6:10-13

In part one of "The Invisible War In Marriage" we looked at the three parts that human beings are made up of spirit, soul, and body. We are a spirit, we possess a soul-(mind, will, and emotions), we live in a body.

We are a spirit. The Bible says that God is a spirit and we (spirit) were created in His image and likeness. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." -John 4:24

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. -2 Corinthians 3:17

(Speaking of Christ) the Bible says, He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. - Colossians 1:15

All of this means that what we see with our natural eyes is not all there is to see. Every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, and year there is a war going on; an invisible war.

Revelations 12:7-9 says, And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Knowing your real enemy is a start. However it's just the beginning. You must also know his tactics, the way he does things. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, "...lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

One scripture you need to take note of is found in Hosea 4:6. It says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. I also believe that the LORD is referring to this knowing as having a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 1:7 says, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Knowledge refers to, knowing, understanding, intelligence, wisdom, discernment, skill, to know.

God (who is Spirit) said the reason why people are destroyed (i.e unsuccessful, fail, struggle, constant problems, etc...) is because of not knowing how to do do things the right way. God never said that the answers didn't exist. The problem is in Hosea day, like ours there were people who were not doing right what they knew to do right. Jesus gave an illustration showing what this would look like in the life of a believer. Let's look at it....

"But why do you call  Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like:

Now before we look at the weapons that are needed to prepare to do battle,  I want to address the importance of not just reading the bible, taking notes, even this blog  without having the intentions of doing what it's telling you. In this parable Jesus was telling a story about two different houses being built on two different foundations.

The first of the two foundations Jesus addressed was the one who heard what He said, and did what He said.

Two Foundations

(1st) Rock house- "He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.

(2nd) Sand house- "But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built his house on the earth or (sand) without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin was great."

There's a lot here that we could look at in regard to building the right foundation for your life. I may addressed this in particular another time. The main thing I want you to see right now is that the Bible is more than a book of "do's and don'ts." It's an instruction manual on how to live victoriously in life.

The important thing to understand here is just reading it will not change a thing about you or any situation in life you experience or will encounter later on. You must do what the word tells you to do. If you don't you'll only get what you have already been getting. Nothing changes until we change.

I always say...you get what you believe, even if your deceived.

The Bible say's it this way...
James 1:22 says, But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

This war that I have been talking about is an invisible one. Since the Devil rebelled against God and had to be evicted out of heaven there has been war going on ever since. You and I are now a part of this same war. For many they are fighting in it unaware that it exist.

If we go back to Ephesians 6:10-13 it will help us discover some key important things you need to know. Lets look at.

Strength to Win This War Comes From God.
(v. 10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Just like any war that takes place in our military, the soldiers have to be ready and equipped to go into battle. In this spiritual war we have to do the same, but the equipment that me use in this battle is all spiritual. If your going to be "strong in the Lord" you have to first know the one you need to be strong in. In the book of Joshua God invited him to know Him and through that intimacy with the Father God through, reading, meditating, praying to God Joshua was able to win many battles and lead the people under his care to victory.

Joshua 1:8 says, "This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Knowing God is intimate, in other words you can't have a casual relationship with the Lord. You have to have a serous ongoing communion, fellowship, and devotional time with the Father. As you spend consistent time with Him in prayer and worship you will grow closer together, and soon hearing His voice will become "second nature." God will strengthen you every step of the way.

Remember this... 2 Chronicles 20:15 says, "...for the battle is not yours, but God's.

To Win This War You Need Special Equipment
(v. 11) Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil

Remember the war that's happen all around you is spiritual. It's after your family, your marriage, your purpose, your soul. You can't fight this battle with physical strength, not your intellect, a knife , not even a gun. You must fight this battle with spiritual equipment.

As I previously share in The Invisible War Pt. 1 Knowing Your Enemy http://www.marriagevowels4life.com/2016/05/the-invisible-war-how-to-overcome.html

2nd Corinthians 10:3, 4 says, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (of the flesh),..."

The second part of verse 11 says "...that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Understand the devil is the one who your fighting. Not your husband, wife, children, family, friends, boss, your enemy. He might influence them against you, because remember he is a spirit too. And spirits are illegal in the earth without a body. So the same way he tricked Eve, he's still doing the same today. (see Genesis 3: 1-5)

The Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 2:11 "...lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

In context this was written in a letter by Apostle Paul where he was speaking to the church of Corinth about an issue in the church that involved an individual who challenge Paul's authority as an apostle. So he brought some major correction to the situation but not just for the offender sake but for the church of Corinth as a whole. Paul himself forgave the offender and admonished the church to do the same even told them to reaffirm their love to him (the offender). He even said to forgive and comfort him, so that he wouldn't be overtaken by his own grief. (see 2nd Corinth 2:6-8) Paul approached the situation in such a sensitive yet direct manner realizing that after he (the offender) had repented to continue to punish him, would not just damage the man but the church and Apostles Paul's own work as well.

Why?

Because it would allow Satan to take advantage of the discord (disagreement between people) in the church. There's a lot here to think about when we look at things the way God intended us too. Something to really think about. We must know our enemies tactics, so we can be prepared to address the situation we face from a different perspective; a spiritual one.

This War Is Not Physical
(v. 12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places.

I know the world we live in and the people around us all look normal, and it is... for the most part. Meaning yes we do live in a very tangible world. We can see it, touch it, smell it, hear things in it, even taste things in the world. However there is more to what we see, taste, touch, hear and smell. There are greater things that are taken place behind the scenes. The Bible even declares that the real truth of scripture is not known to those who don't believe.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says, But even if our gospel is veiled (or hidden) , it is veiled (or hidden) to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age (i.e world) has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Here's what it says about Christ...
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.- Colossians 1:15, 16

The natural man vs The spiritual: But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (i.e perceived or recognized).

All things that are seen were once invisible. The unseen came first, and still exist. Hebrews 11: 3 says, By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

The verse also talks about principalities (or rulers, authorities) and powers (or forces) that are many and are at war with God and the saints (God's people). I repeat these are evil malicious spirits who make war against the people of God.

Remember Ephesians 6:12 says,  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Who are the "we" in scripture? We are those of us that are now saved. I repeat...the scripture is speaking to people that have received salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is not self help. The things that I write are scriptural and spiritual truth. If you are going to be ready to handle spiritual things you need to, if you haven't return back to the One who created you.

Romans 10:9 says, "...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Only God's Armor Can Protect Us From The Enemy
(v. 13) Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

There is a real enemy. It's not your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, children, family member, boss, etc.. If your going to win this battle you first need to know and understand that you first must be saved. However salvation is just the beginning. But without it you can't be given access to the truth of scripture that is there to save your soul. (see James 1:21)

John 3: 5-6 says, Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

I hope that these post are helping you to see the "bigger picture." Make no mistake, we are at war. If and how you prepare yourself to do battle in this war will reveal itself in the day of  battle. So if you haven't already...prepare yourself now.

The next time we will look at the different parts of the armor of God that you will need to do battle in this war against the enemy.
